I was going through pictures and I am just fascinated about how our boys look like us.  These are photos of the boys and us at about the same ages.  Jackson has his mother’s personality and Camden has mine. But Camden and his mother look so much alike to me.  And Jackson, well just look at the pictures.

Mother’s Day Weekend

Amy May 10th, 2009

We just got back from a weekend in Gray, GA.  We went down there to stay with my nephews while my sister and her husband enjoyed a date night and we stayed for Mother’s Day weekend.  We had a really good time.  We visited Dauset Park and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  Camden played and played and played with his cousins who were kind enough to entertain a 2 year old.  We are back home safely and rejuvenated from a wonderful weekend of fellowship and family.

Seth, my nephew, also introduced us to the entertaining world of Guitar Hero.  We could have played all afternoon.  Do you think that Jackson would like Rock Band for his birthday????

Here are some pics of our weekend….

My DiDi Clean! Thank you Daddy!

Michael April 20th, 2009

Today Camden helped us with the laundry.  As we were removing his sheets from the wash. He found his DiDi in the wash and exclaimed, “My DiDi clean! Thank you Daddy!  He was so happy to have his most prized possession clean that he asked me to take a picture of it.

Here it is…

Happy Easter Egg

Amy April 16th, 2009

This is the first Easter that Camden has been really aware of the traditions of Easter – dying eggs, hunting eggs, etc.  Unfortunately when it came time to dye the eggs, he was sick.  He dyed a few of them, but then I finished.  The good part is that the eggs turned out really bright because they sat in the dye while I got him ready for bed and then into bed.  The bad part is that all of the pictures I took of this event have Camden with a runny nose and not happy.  He would say “Cheese”, but there was no smiling involved.

img_0596The next day he was still not 100%, but I drugged him up and off we went to church.  Both boys looked really cute and after a great dinner at Mom’s, Camden hunted eggs over and over again.  img_0613

img_0598As to the point of the title of this post, when I told Camden to tell Gigi “Happy Easter” when he said it, it came out “Happy Easter Egg”.  You can tell what he was thinking about.

Go Baby Go

Amy April 9th, 2009

This afternoon when Michael and Camden got home, we all went to the park in Menlo.  For those of you not familiar with this area, Menlo is the “town” at the bottom of the mountain from us.  It is a very small town, one 4 way stop, and therefore there are usually no people in the park.  I thought about going to the Summerville park, which is about 10 miles away, but it was after school was out and I didn’t want to navigate all of the kids.  I have strong anti-social tendencies that my kids are forcing me to deal with, as Camden would rather interact with the other kids than play alone.  Go figure.

Anyway, as we arrived at the park I noticed that there was a birthday party under way.  DANG!  Oh well, I had already promised and the the entire 4 minute trip Camden was telling me how he was going to slide on the slide and Mommy was going to push him on the swing and he was going to PLAY IN THE PARK!  So to the park we went.  It actually wasn’t bad, as everyone pretty much ignored us and the parents pretty much stayed in the pavilion and let their kids free (including the 2-3 year old girl who was going down the 6 foot slides by herself, but that is just the playground safety nazi in me coming out).

For most of the time at the park, Camden played on the swings.  He was in one toddler seat and I put Jackson in the other. img_0528 Jackson’s first time on a big swing!  Jackson looked like he was just kinda hanging in there, but he was smiling!  Camden kept telling me that he was flying and was really really tall.  He looked over at Jackson and said, “Go baby go!”  That made us laugh.  What made me laugh harder was watching Michael climb into one of those big Geo Dome climbers.  He barely fit and I was hoping we wouldn’t have to call out the fire department to extricate him with the jaws of life.  :)   He’s a good daddy!  Once he got inside, Camden said “Daddy trapped.”  Little did he know….

It was a beautiful day here and I hope that if you had great weather like we did, that you got to enjoy it.

I also tried to be a bit creative today and took photos of Jackson.  He wasn’t feeling his best so I had trouble getting him to smile, but here are a few of the shots.

Maybe a little jealous?

Amy January 21st, 2009

Camden has lately taken to sitting in various baby items.  He lays in the baby carrier, sits in the Bumbo seat (which sticks to his bottom when he tries to get out) and today I came down from putting Jackson down for a nap and found this.  What was really funny was watching him try to get out…

Autumnal Bliss

Amy November 11th, 2008

Mother Nature has been putting on a glorious show this past week.  I have found myself standing underneath orange and yellow and red trees inhaling and absorbing their beauty and trying to memorize the way the light flickers through their leaves.  I love fall and one of the reasons I love living in this area is that I get to enjoy this season.  Living in SW Louisiana, there wasn’t really a fall to speak of.  There were a few trees that changed, but mostly it is pines and live oaks.  In the foothills of the Appalachians you get to experience the fall seen in pretty calendars.

The only thing I regret is how quickly the leaves change and then fall.  But on a deeper level, if the leaves lasted longer, would I get as much enjoyment and spiritual blessings from them or would I simply take them for granted?  The ebb and flow of life is shown in this season.  Enjoy the beauty deeply and strongly when you have the opportunity for soon it will be gone.  Gone so that you can begin the anticipation of the next wonderful thing to come along.  I will enjoy the seasons in between, but will be anticipating the next time I get to sit on one of my rocks and look up into the stained glass of the woods. Click here and here for the rest of the photos.
