Yesterday afternoon, after being cooped up in the car most of the day, the boys and I played outside for a while. Cam’s choice of activities? Playing knights. He handed out swords to me, Jax, and kept one for himself. He then dubbed us, Mommy the Bravest, Jackson the Littlest Bravest, and Camden the Bravest. And then he would point out the bad guys and we would all Charge! and attack them. The ones further down the driveway I was content to let the boys kill, but I would dutifully do my part by the garage. And I have to say that running and “killing” the bad guys was a great stress reliever. I think I’ll suggest this activity more often.
Well, on one of his sojourns down the driveway, Cam found something pretty for Mommy. So he stopped going after the bad guys to bring me a surprise. Once he got up to me, he bowed down in front of me and held up a flower and said, “This is for you, Mommy the bravest”. My hero! I love this age!!!!!

Today the kids and I embarked upon a new adventure… fingerpainting! Camden has painted with watercolors before, but this is the first time we have really gotten into our art. Literally. First I stripped them down and then we began. This started out as an art project with a purpose- hmmm, wonder what that could be – and then became just a fun way to get creative.

Camden was really into it. The project started out with a lot of hand prints and then became one large smeared purplish blob, but he had fun.

Jax mostly sat there for a long while wondering why he had paint on his hand and then he decided he did like painting, mostly himself, but some on the poster board as well.

We had fun and the washable paint was, thankfully, washable.
PS More posts to come…. trip to Helen, GA, Mike’s big 4-5, etc.

Yesterday while we were eating a delicious Mother’s Day lunch that Michael had cooked, I asked Mom if she wanted another roll. All of a sudden from the high chair we hear, “Roll Tide!” I guess we have Jax conditioned…

Jackson is learning new words every day and he is starting to communicate in more ways than just shrieks and grunts. But most importantly he can now say “Roll Tide!” Who says our priorities aren’t in order.

Michael has been on me to publish these pics for 2 weeks. So finally, here they are….
We went to Noccalula Falls a couple of weeks ago and rode the train around and petted the animals and played on the playground. Jackson got to wear shoes for the first time, since I refuse to buy shoes until my children walk. Camden had a blast and except for a few shrieking fits that had all other parents judmentally staring at me, so did Jackson. by the way, Jackson was the one shrieking, not me.

Random deer walking loose in the park

I have shoes!

conversation today between Cam and me
Me: “Camden, are you stinky?”
Cam: “No, Mommy, I not” (said as he turns over and slides towards me with his butt in the air) “Smell me.”
As previously discussed, Jax is now walking. As a result he is forever falling on his head. I don’t remember this many bumps and bruises on Camden… Well, today he slipped on a paper towel and went down face first. I thought he was going to have a bloody lip, but oh, no, he instead had a bloody nose and a bump in the middle of his forehead. Good thing he is not going to daycare or we might be cited for child abuse.

Here is Cam’s scary face that he has been spending a lot of time perfecting in front of the mirror.

This past weekend Jax took off. We were visiting my sister and he got so excited to explore his cousin’s bedroom that he started walking around. He has been taking tentative steps for a few weeks now, but now he is walking around everywhere and he is so proud. His brother is very proud as well. Cam keeps saying, “Look! He’s walking. He’s a big boy walking!”
Here is the videographic evidence.

As I have mentioned we went to visit my sister over Labor Day weekend. We had a great time. Camden loved playing with his cousins and his oldest cousin, Seth, was especially patient and played with him tirelessly.
My wonderful brother-in-law grilled out yummy burgers, chicken, and sausage for us and my sister even cooked – birthday cake for me and breakfast casserole. It was all delicious and the fellowship was even better.
They have recently gotten Guitar Hero Band version and so we all had an opportunity to jam as well. Mike decided that he has no talent as a drummer and better stick to the guitar. Camden participated by dancing enthusiastically to the music. Jackson even tried his hand at the drums.
Here are some pics from this weekend.

During our visit, my nephew stated his desire to be famous. Well, this is the best I can do for him right now…
INTRODUCING WILL… He has a big voice!

Late this week, Jackson has taken to pulling up on various furniture and scooting along its edge to the next piece. He took two unaided steps yesterday between the couch and his bouncer! I had a chance to catch him using his hippo a few days ago. One day he would grab it and fall down, the next day this. He’s almost there!
