Life after death
Amy May 1st, 2009
Most of us consider the phrase “life after death” when referring to the person who has died. Today I am going to use it to describe the ones left behind.
Today would have been my dad’s 70th birthday. Happy Birthday Dad!
It has been almost a year since you left this earth and you have missed a lot and we have missed a lot by not having you with us. You have missed a birth, several family birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s, Easter, an incredible fall, a beautiful spring… We have missed your presence, your smile, your laughter, your encouragement, your hugs, and your love.
It is so hard for me knowing that you will never get the chance to see your grandsons grow into men and that you never got to even meet Jackson. He is becoming so much fun and he would have loved his Grandpa. Camden is such a loving and sweet soul and loves to visit GiGi and give her great big hugs. I wish you were there for him to love also.
All of our holidays were a little less shiny, a lit bit quieter, a little bit solemn because we each in our own way were looking for you and missing you. You have left a legacy of love and cherished memories and an emptiness in each of our hearts that will never be filled. New loves and new memories will grow around the void, but it can never disappear.
Yes, there is life after death, but it is a life changed. I miss you…..
