Today I surprised my husband at his work shortly before he got off and he and I and the boys went to the City Park and enjoyed some KFC. It was a beautiful afternoon sitting beside the river, watching Son #1 wander around picking up sticks and throwing rocks into the water.
When we finally got him to come sit with us and eat, he sat in his Daddy’s lap. At one point he decided to come sit in my lap which I thought was sweet. Then I realized the only reason he came to me was because I was closest to the drink and he wanted our drink not his juice. I looked into those big blue eyes and told him that I felt used. His reponse? He reached up to me and gave me a big long kiss on the cheek. His dad and I just started laughing. He knows the way to Mommy’s heart.
And after the kiss he went back to Daddy…

I wanted to wait a few days to be sure it wasn’t a fluke. I believe it’s not and I’m going to say its official. Jackson is SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! YEAH!
But, God in His infinite wisdom, has decided that Amy and I should have a few more weeks of sleep deprived nights. Harley wakes one of us up to either eat or wanting to play. Last night she woke me up at 3:30am by licking and biting my ear.
What can I say, such is my life.

The part about the adorable, cute as a button, little bundle of fur that Michael didn’t mention was that this makes our official cat total at 5 and unofficial at 6. We have also recently adopted 3 kittens from my mom after a stray that she has been taking care of had babies in her lap. She was going to keep them, but her neighbor called animal control on them, so they came to live with us. We don’t really have any neighbors. Those 3 stay outdoors and then we have a 12 year-old cat that stays indoors. He is the only one that is not happy about our new addition. And last, there is a stray that occassionaly comes up to eat, but I don’t really claim him.
Harley is making herself at home and is sleeping right next to mine or Mike’s neck. She purrs and curls up and falls asleep. Then at 2am she is wanting to be fed. Now I have 2 babies asking for food in the middle of the night.
This afternoon she took a flying plunge from the second floor onto Camden who was minding his own business and eating his lunch. I think that she was attracted to his hot dog. I was in the kitchen with him when I heard a loud thump, then his plate flying onto the floor, and Camden screeching. It took me a second to notice the cat in his lap and I was afraid that (1) she had scratched him badly in her landing and (2) that she had hurt herself. After further review all were OK, just a little shaken. Wouldn’t you be if a cat fell from the heavens into your lunch?
This is the life…

Harley

- Harley and Camden
This kitten was in the flower bed in front of the place I work. She was mewling something pitiful and I couldn’t just leave her there. Took her to the vet this morning and the vet says she’s about 4-5 weeks old and weighs 10 oz. She’s adorable and Amy and I decided to keep her. Camden is delighted with her.

Camden surprised me again last night. He actually WANTED a bath. I have to question his motives though. It was bedtime and he was using some of our parenting psychology on us. Trying to distract us from our intended destination. Gotta love him for trying.
